Maintaining a current LPN license is a requirement of this position. Provides a full range of patient care to chronically ill dialysis inmates, under the supervision of the Supervisory Clinical Nurse, with guidance from the Charge Nurse. Prepares patients for specialized diagnostic and therapeutic procedures according to standard protocols. Maintains records of medications given. Reports and records adverse reactions through approved reporting mechanisms. Transcribes and carries out the wide variety of physician's orders according to established nursing policies pertaining to orders. Along with all other correctional institution employees, incumbent is charged with responsibility for maintaining security of the institution. The staff correctional responsibilities precede all others required by this position and are performed on a regular and recurring basis. Basic Requirements:Licensure: Candidates must be currently licensed to practice as practical or vocational nurses in a State or territory of the United States or the District of Columbia, or must have applied for a license to practice. Some examples of this qualifying experience are:Experience with performing a full range of basic nursing activities at the level of the Practical Nurse.Experience with communicating verbally with other members of the health care setting and in writing to complete required medical record documentation and reports on medical equipment.Experience with basic anatomy and physiology of the human body and knowledge of medical terminology.
