Theodore, AL: Flexicrew Technical Services (FTS) is seeking a Chemical / Production Operator for an industrial manufacturing facility. This position combines hands-on plant operations with computer-based process monitoring and troubleshooting.

The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, comfortable working with production data and computer systems, and able to identify potential process or equipment issues before they impact production.

Schedule: Full-time, 8-hour rotating shifts in a 24/7 operation. Candidates must be available to rotate between day, evening, and night shifts. Overtime, weekends, and holidays may be required based on production needs.

Essential Duties:

• Monitor plant production and process control systems, including DCS, SCADA, HMI, PLC, or similar systems.
• Review production data, process readings, and trends to identify abnormalities or potential equipment issues.
• Make appropriate process adjustments to maintain product quality and production goals.
• Accurately document production data, process readings, quality information, and shift activity.
• Operate and monitor industrial production equipment, including crushers, grinders, mills, classifiers, dryers, blowers, pneumatic systems, and packaging equipment.
• Perform physical equipment inspections when process data indicates a potential issue.
• Work with operations and maintenance personnel to identify and troubleshoot mechanical or process-related problems.
• Collect and prepare material samples and assist with basic quality control testing.
• Perform routine equipment inspections and basic preventative maintenance.
• Assist with material handling, including loading and unloading raw materials and finished products.
• Follow established SOPs, safety procedures, and environmental requirements.
• Assist other departments, including maintenance, shipping, packaging, and quality, as needed.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
• Communicate equipment status, process issues, and production information during shift handoffs.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 1–3 years of manufacturing, chemical processing, industrial production, or similar plant experience preferred.
• Previous experience monitoring industrial operations through DCS, SCADA, HMI, PLC, or similar computer-based process systems strongly preferred.
• Strong mechanical and troubleshooting aptitude.
• Comfortable monitoring computer systems and production data for extended periods.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word.
• Ability to recognize trends, inconsistencies, and abnormal process conditions.
• Ability to transition between computer-based monitoring and hands-on plant work throughout the shift.
• Ability to read and follow SOPs, process documentation, and technical instructions.
• Experience reading P&IDs or process flow diagrams is a plus.
• Basic understanding of process chemistry is a plus.
• Associate degree or technical/vocational training in Process Technology, Chemical Operations, or a related field is preferred but not required.
• Must have a TWIC card or be willing to obtain it before hire.
• Must be able to regularly stand, walk, climb stairs or ladders, bend, and lift up to 50 lbs.
• Must be comfortable working in a dusty, noisy, non-climate-controlled industrial environment.
• Dependable attendance and punctuality are required.
• Must have full flexibility to work rotating days, evenings, nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime as required.
