Job Description & Requirements Specialty: ICU - Intensive Care Unit Discipline: RN Start Date: 01/11/2027 Duration: 13 weeks 36 hours per week Shift: 12 hours, days Employment Type: Travel ICU Registered Nurse (RN) General Information Position available within various intensive care units (ICUs), progressive care units (PCUs), and emergency department holding across multiple locations within the region. Applicants must have a minimum of 1 year of ICU experience. Strong ICU and prior float pool experience will also be considered for first-time travelers. Patient Types Travelers are expected to provide care for diverse patient populations, including: Covid Patients Neuro, Trauma, Medical, and Surgical patients Sepsis, pneumonia, DKA, DTs, multi-system failure Spinal injuries, pre/post-catheterization patients (radial approach) General surgery patients, respiratory compromise, CHF, COPD GSW, stabbings, MVA, strokes, TBI, various back surgeries Specific expectations also include care in the Cardiovascular ICU (CVICU) for: Post-op CABG, Esophagectomy, TAVR, AAA repair Thoracic and vascular surgeries, post-arrest patients Patient Ratios ICU: 1:2 PCU/ACC/CCU: 1:4 ER Holding: Ratios based on patient care level Certifications Required ACLS BLS NIHSS Required Skills Candidates should possess competencies in the following areas: Cardiac rhythm interpretation Ventilator and BiPAP management Invasive line management Ostomy care and management of general drains Chest tubes, lumbar drains, and tracheostomy care IV medication titration Support on the Unit Clinical support will be available from: Charge Nurse Hospitalist, Respiratory Therapist, and Intensivist (available 24/7) Cardiologist on-call for the CVICU & CCU Charting System Experience with the Epic charting system is required. Scheduling Schedules are typically created for 3 weeks at a time, distributed 7-10 days in advance. Every other weekend shifts are expected, with the possibility of back-to-back weekends (though this is rare). No self-scheduling opportunities are available, and no patterned schedule guarantees. Time off requests exceeding 5 days require manager approval. Floating Requirement Travelers may be required to float among the following units: Neuro/Trauma/Medical/Cardiac ICU CCU (cardiac step down) PCU/ACC ED Holding Med Surg Units Open surge areas related to the above units Travelers may also be assigned to a facility approximately 2.5 miles away if needed, but this occurs infrequently and will be communicated in advance. Orientation 1 day of general hospital orientation 1 day of unit orientation (12 hours) on the ICU unit 1 day (12 hours) on similar units Other Notes Scrubs: Any professional color is acceptable. Parking: Free parking is available in designated areas. Documentation: Completion of whiteboards, hourly rounding, and bedside report is required.
