Texas Director

POSITION OVERVIEW The Texas Director is responsible for developing and maintaining relationships with individual and corporate donors, community partners, elected officials, legislative staff, and other key stakeholders throughout Texas. This position supports the fundraising, development, and government relations efforts of USA Cares by identifying funding opportunities, cultivating relationships, increasing awareness of the organization’s mission, and supporting initiatives that benefit service members, veterans, and their families. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Develop and implement strategies to secure individual and corporate donations throughout Texas. Cultivate and maintain relationships with current and prospective donors, corporate partners, community organizations, and veteran-serving organizations. Research and identify prospective donors, sponsors, funding opportunities, and state-level initiatives that support veterans and military families. Conduct donor outreach, meetings, presentations, networking, and community engagement activities. Develop and maintain professional relationships with elected officials, legislative staff, and government leaders throughout Texas. Educate state leaders and community partners about USA Cares' programs, services, mission, and the needs of veterans and military families. Represent USA Cares professionally at fundraising events, conferences, legislative and government-relations activities, and other community functions. Collaborate with the Director of Development and national development team to support fundraising, donor relations, and organizational goals. Work with marketing and communications to support fundraising campaigns, donor communications, and promotional materials. Maintain accurate donor records and interactions within Salesforce. Provide regular updates and reports on fundraising, donor engagement, and government-relations activities with the Director of Development and USA Cares Staff. Maintain knowledge of fundraising trends, donor relations, philanthropic opportunities, and relevant Texas initiatives. Participate in required training and professional development. Perform other duties as assigned. Travel throughout Texas and to USA Cares Headquarters as needed. ESSENTIAL SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS Excellent verbal, written, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills. Strong relationship-building, networking, and follow-up skills. Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities. Ability to work independently, take initiative, and exercise sound judgment. Ability to represent USA Cares professionally in donor, community, and government settings. Knowledge of fundraising, donor relations, nonprofit development, and government relations practices. Ability to effectively communicate with donors, corporate partners, community leaders, elected officials, and other stakeholders. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Salesforce, and general computer applications. Passion for the mission of USA Cares and commitment to supporting service members, veterans, and their families. Ability to travel throughout Texas as needed. EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, Nonprofit Management, or related field preferred. Minimum of two years of experience in fundraising, donor relations, development, sales, community relations, government relations, or a related field. Demonstrated experience building and maintaining professional relationships. Nonprofit, military, or veteran-focused experience preferred. LICENSES & REQUIREMENTS Valid driver's license. Required automobile insurance. Reliable access to an automobile. Ability and willingness to travel throughout Texas as needed. WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS This position is primarily office and community based and requires regular interaction with donors, corporate partners, community organizations, elected officials, government representatives, and other stakeholders. The position requires use of a telephone, computer, CRM system, and other standard office equipment. Travel throughout Texas, including travel to Austin, and occasional evening or weekend events may be required. The position requires the ability to sit, stand, walk, communicate, travel, and perform routine office-related activities.
