About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Stepdown/MedSurg Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12 Hour Nights Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum of 3 years License: Required Certifications: ACLS, BLS (AHA) Must-Have: Stepdown experience Description: The unit has a total of 20 beds. The nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:3 for Stepdown and 1:5-6 for MedSurg. Common diagnoses include respiratory issues, weakness, urinary tract infections, acute kidney injury, and chest pain. Nurses are required to titrate drips, including Heparin, insulin, Cardizem, and amiodarone. There is a House Supervisor on the unit. Two nurse aides are present per shift. Respiratory equipment such as CPAP and BiPAP is available. Patients are monitored with telemetry. Shifts are scheduled for 12 hours at night, with weekends as scheduled. The weekend requirement is three weekend shifts per four-week schedule. Holidays are rotated between evening and day shifts. There is no call or standby requirement. The dress code is royal blue scrubs. Unit-specific orientation is provided. The charting system used is EPIC. Cancellation policy allows for two shift cancellations during the assignment.
