DevOps Engineer
The DevOps Engineer will play a key role in control within Integrated Supply & Trading in the North American Gas and Power Trading business. This role is for a senior DevOps Engineer for the US Gas Market risk exposure reporting solution. The US gas business is the biggest by volume and complexity within BP and this is a new implementation of the Market Risk gas exposure reporting solution. This role holds the primary interface with the Market Risk IT&S team and infrastructure support team.
Key Accountabilities:
- Partner with key users, business leads, and project sponsors to understand the needs of the business, document them (Agile - via requirements documents, use cases and process diagrams) and determine the appropriate short and long term solutions to meet them
- Build solution to auto deploy build artefacts to Dev, UAT and Production environment
- Develop deployment and configuration pipelines, integrate with new / existing tools
- Experience managing Windows servers and services
- Familiarity configuring build systems, package managers and artifacts repositories
- Advise on additional tools and approaches to automation deployment in the Cloud
Essential Experience and Job Requirements:
- Strong background in Windows administration
- Knowledge of the source code versioning tools (TFS, Subversion, ClearCase)
- Experience with automation/configuration management using Jenkins, Artifactory, Puppet, Chef or an equivalent
- Ability to use a wide variety of open source technologies
- Experience in working with AWS Cloud environment (required)
- Background in Linux/Unix administration
- Experience working with scripting languages and tools (Python, PHP, Ruby, PowerShell, Linux/Unix shell scripts, ANT)
- Experience with SQL (Oracle, MS SQL, PostgreSQL) with NoSQL experience as a plus
- A working understanding of code (Java, C# .NET)
- Knowledge of best practices and IT operations in an always-up, always-available service
