Railcar Electromechanical Production Technician

Location: Santa Fe Springs, CA Type: Contract To Hire Compensation: $22.00 - $32.00 per hour Contractor Work Model: Onsite

Overview

Assemble and install electrical and mechanical components within railcars including wiring harnesses, control panels, lighting systems, passenger communication systems, HVAC equipment, and braking components. Route and secure cables, install connectors, and perform grounding and electrical terminations. Install mechanical assemblies including brackets, mounts, racks, panels, and structural components. Use hand tools, power tools, and torque tools to assemble components according to engineering specifications. Connect and integrate onboard electrical systems including power distribution, low-voltage control systems, and communication networks. Perform continuity testing and verify electrical connections. Conduct functional testing of railcar subsystems such as doors, lighting, control systems, and passenger equipment. Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical and electrical issues during production and commissioning. Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, engineering drawings, and assembly instructions. Document work performed and report issues to engineering and quality teams. Follow all safety procedures and manufacturing quality standards, participate in inspections, audits, and corrective actions to ensure compliance with project and regulatory requirements.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED; technical or vocational training preferred
  • Experience in electrical, mechanical, or electromechanical assembly in a manufacturing or industrial environment
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and mechanical drawings
  • Familiarity with hand tools, power tools, and electrical testing equipment
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing or production environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in rail, transportation, aerospace, or heavy equipment manufacturing
  • Knowledge of industrial wiring, cable management, and electrical systems integration
  • Experience working with low-voltage or high-voltage systems
  • Familiarity with quality standards and manufacturing processes
