Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Stepdown Cardiac Duration: 8 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 2 years License: Active RN license Certifications: ACLS, BLS, CPI, NIHSS Must-Have: Previous charge experience preferred Description: The Registered Nurse will work in a cardiac step-down unit. This position involves caring for adult and geriatric patients. The patient population may include those with dysrhythmia and heart blocks. Nurses will also manage patients pre- and post-operative cardiac surgery. Experience with TAVR care and post-operative permanent pacemaker placement is beneficial. Nurses will administer medications such as Cardizem, amiodarone, heparin, and dopamine. Chest tube management and strict input/output monitoring will be required. Foley insertion and care, as well as mobility assistance using a cardiac walker, are part of the duties. Candidates will operate telemonitoring equipment and IV pumps. The nurse-to-patient ratio on the unit is 1:4. Floating within the specialty and lower acuities may be required. Nurses must be comfortable floating with no restrictions. Weekend shifts will be scheduled every other weekend. Holidays may be required based on scheduling needs. The average daily census in the unit is 16 patients. Interdisciplinary support will include IV teams, physical therapy, and respiratory services. This role demands strong critical thinking and interpersonal skills. Nurses are expected to have excellent communication abilities. The ability to provide compassionate patient care is essential.
