Bag Machine Operator - 3rd ShiftMeriden, CTCompensation IncludesStarting Pay Rate of $19.48/hour$0.75/hr shift differentialAvailable Shift10:00 p.m. - 6:30 a.m., Monday - FridayTraining Schedule: 6:00 a.m. - 2:30 p.m., Monday- Friday for the first 3 monthsOverviewUnder the direction of the Production Supervisor and designated Leads, this position operates a machine that takes in paper, folds it, and glues it to produce bags of various sizes, shapes, and grades. The first three months of employment will consist primarily of On-the-Job Training (OJT). During this period, employees will train under experienced Operators, Adjusters, and Supervisors to develop proficiency in machine setup, operation, quality standards, safety procedures, and the production process before working independently.ResponsibilitiesSet up, operate, and support equipment to convert paper into bagsRead and verify order sheetsPerform quality checks on finished productsComplete daily production paperworkSafely strip rolls down, removing liner and/or bandsCoordinate with the Lead Adjuster to make necessary repairs and machine adjustments to ensure quality levelsWatch the progress of machinery for breakage; notify the Adjuster as neededClean ink pans and wash rollersLearn to thread machinery and perform properlyMeet/achieve safety, quality, production, waste, and housekeeping goals set forth by managementContinuously safely perform all required tasks, adhering to all established safety rules and procedures. Must take immediate action to correct and/or report any unsafe conditions and hazardsUtilize lockout/tagout as required, following established policy; ensure machine guarding is always in placeKeep the work area clean and organized by 6S standardsEnsure that work is being performed to produce quality products according to our quality requirements and specificationsComply with established plant rules and procedures that promote compliance with customer service-related activities, including, but not limited to:Following run-order specifications for each productFollowing pre-requisite programs in compliance with SQF Code, Manufacture of Food Packaging, and food safety requirementsFollowing all Good Manufacturing Practices in compliance with all Food Safety RequirementsActively engage in value-added activities that enhance our products and processesMust attend daily, weekly, and monthly production meetings and safety trainingFollow all PPE policiesOperators at the Intermediate level or above are expected to train new and less experienced team members to operate their machinesOther miscellaneous duties as assigned by the Manager, Supervisor, and Shift LeadsQualificationsHigh School diploma or GEDMinimum of 1 year of experience working in manufacturing or productionAble to lift 50 poundsMechanical aptitudeMust be able to train on the 6:00 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. shift for the first 3 monthsMust complete Safety Orientation and monthly trainingWhat You'll Get From UsBenefitsWith safety as our top priority and a commitment to employee well-being an important focus, we offer comprehensive and competitive benefits that include medical, dental and vision insurance as well as a variety of other well-being resources focused on mental, physical and financial health.
