Description

The Liquor Store Associate is responsible for providing excellent customer service, managing inventory, and ensuring the store is well-maintained and compliant with all regulations regarding the sale of alcoholic beverages. The ideal candidate will have strong product knowledge, be customer-focused, and capable of working in a fast-paced retail environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Greet customers as they enter the store and provide assistance in selecting products.
• Offer recommendations based on customer preferences and knowledge of products.
• Answer questions about different types of alcoholic beverages, including wines, spirits, and beers.
• Operate the cash register, process sales transactions, and handle returns or exchanges.
• Verify the age of customers by checking IDs to ensure compliance with legal age requirements.
• Assist with special orders and provide information on product availability.
• Stock shelves with new inventory, ensuring that products are displayed neatly and organized.
• Assist in receiving shipments, unpacking boxes, and placing items in appropriate storage or display areas.
• Conduct regular inventory checks and notify the manager of any stock shortages or discrepancies.
• Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the store, including tidying shelves, sweeping floors, and maintaining displays.
• Set up and maintain promotional displays, ensuring they are eye-catching and well-stocked.
• Follow all store policies and procedures regarding the sale of alcoholic beverages.
• Monitor the store for any signs of theft or suspicious activity and report to the manager as needed.
• Adhere to legal regulations, including checking IDs and refusing service to intoxicated customers.
• Assist with other tasks as assigned by the store manager, including opening and closing the store.
• Participate in staff meetings and training sessions as required.

Qualifications

• 18 years of age minimum
• Previous retail experience preferred, especially in a liquor store or similar environment.
• Strong customer service skills and a friendly, approachable demeanor.
• Good communication skills and the ability to work well with others.
• Knowledge of alcoholic beverages and the ability to make recommendations.
• Ability to handle cash and operate a cash register.
• Attention to detail and ability to maintain a clean, organized workspace.
• Physical Requirements: Ability to stand for extended periods, lift heavy boxes (up to 50 lbs), and perform repetitive tasks.

Work Environment:

• Fast-paced retail environment with frequent interaction with customers.
• May require evening, weekend, and holiday shifts depending on store hours.
