Clinical Supervisor
$62.5 per hourHope Matters Institute
Company Description Hope Matters Institute is a California telehealth practice where we take our work seriously — and ourselves, a little less so. We offer warm, trauma-informed therapy to individuals, children, teens, couples, and families across the state, helping clients work through everything from anxiety, depression, and trauma to grief, life transitions, and the messy middle of being human. But here's what sets HMI apart: our team genuinely likes each other. There's laughter on our team calls, group chats full of celebration when associates pass their exams or clients graduate from therapy, and a leadership team that's actually accessible and invested in your growth. Yes, the work is meaningful. Yes, the clinical standards are high. And also — this is the kind of practice where people stay because they love being here. The Role We're looking for a Clinical Supervisor to join our leadership team in a full-time remote position. This is a meaningful role for someone who genuinely loves supporting associates — helping them grow into skilled, confident clinicians while making sure their work is ethical, sound, and well-documented. In this role, you'll provide weekly 1:1 and triadic supervision to a group of associate clinicians, walking alongside them in case conceptualization, clinical decision-making, treatment planning, and risk assessment. You'll review all associate documentation — progress notes, assessments, and treatment plans — for clinical accuracy, insurance compliance, and adherence to HMI standards. Alongside your supervisory work, you'll maintain a clinical caseload of approximately 20 clients (for full-time supervisors), so your hands stay in the clinical work that you love. Beyond the day-to-day, you'll collaborate closely with leadership to support clinician development and retention, uphold the quality of care our clients deserve, and shape the kind of practice we all want to work in. About the Credentialing Process We want to be transparent about one important piece upfront: clinical supervisors at HMI go through a credentialing process with our insurance panels that can take up to five months from your start date. During this credentialing period: You will not yet be signing off on associate documentation (notes, assessments, treatment plans). You will be fully active in providing supervision to your associates — weekly 1:1 and triadic supervision, case consultation, clinical guidance, and professional development. You will also be building your own caseload and getting fully integrated into the team and the practice. Once credentialing is complete, you'll step into the full scope of the role, including documentation oversight and sign-off authority. We share this timeline openly because we believe in setting clear expectations and in honoring your time as you join us. Compensation We've designed our starting pay to honor both sides of this role: $62.50 per billable client hour $70 per hour when providing supervision to associates These rates apply to our full-time clinical supervisor positions. Life at HMI A few things people tell us they love about working here: team gatherings that are actually fun to be in (yes, even virtually — we make them count), group chats where clinical questions and recipe swaps live happily side by side, leadership that knows your name and cares about your wins, and a culture where peer support is the rule, not the exception. We're a remote practice, but the warmth comes through. Who You Are Beyond the credentials, our team thrives on collaboration, warmth, and a healthy sense of humor. We're looking for someone who brings real energy to the team, enjoys being part of a close-knit practice, and isn't afraid to laugh in supervision or drop a meme in the group chat. You should be someone associates feel comfortable bringing questions to — and someone who genuinely loves being part of a practice that takes care of each other as much as we take care of our clients. You also bring strong clinical judgment, real care for the people you supervise, and a steady, collaborative approach to leadership. Specifically, you have: An active, unrestricted California license (LMFT, LCSW, LPCC, or Psychologist) in good standing All California BBS requirements to serve as a clinical supervisor, including required supervision training and experience A minimum of 2 years of post-licensure clinical experience (or as otherwise required by the BBS for supervision eligibility) Demonstrated experience providing clinical supervision to associate clinicians, including 1:1 and triadic formats Strong working knowledge of insurance-based practice, medical necessity, and clinical documentation standards A proven ability to review and evaluate clinical documentation — progress notes, assessments, treatment plans — for accuracy, quality, and compliance Solid clinical judgment with confidence supporting case conceptualization, treatment planning, and risk assessment The ability to balance a clinical caseload of approximately 20 clients (full-time) alongside your supervisory responsibilities Strong organizational, communication, and time-management skills A deep commitment to ethical practice, clinician development, and a collaborative team culture Comfort working in a telehealth environment and using electronic health record (EHR) systems Joining HMI If this sounds like the kind of role and team you've been looking for, we'd love to hear from you. Reach out — we'd be glad to start the conversation!
