This position supports the overall sanitation and food safety programs by ensuring that restrooms, offices, common areas, breakrooms, hallways, training spaces, and exterior grounds remain clean, organized, and compliant with company hygiene and safety standards. The role plays an essential part in upholding Wawona's high expectations for facility appearance, employee welfare, and regulatory compliance. This position has no supervisory responsibilities.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESThe functions below are considered essential to this position. Other duties may be assigned consistent with business needs.Restroom & Common Area CleaningClean and sanitize all restrooms, including toilets, urinals, sinks, mirrors, floors, partitions, and counters.Restock toilet paper, soap, sanitizer, trash liners, and paper towels.Ensure restrooms remain clean, orderly, and free of debris throughout the shift.Complete the bathroom sanitation log and ensure bathrooms are cleaned at the assigned frequency.Sweep, mop, and vacuum floors in office spaces, training spaces, conference rooms, break rooms, hallways, and other common areas.Dust furniture, equipment, and fixtures in offices, meeting rooms, and lounge areas.Clean windows, glass surfaces, and mirrors to ensure they are streak-free and presentable.Wipe down desks, chairs, and other furniture as needed.Trash & Waste RemovalEmpty trash cans and replace liners in offices, bathrooms, and common areas; properly dispose of trash and recycling materials in designated bins.Ensure all waste disposal practices follow the company's safety and environmental guidelines.Exterior & Grounds MaintenanceMaintain cleanliness of exterior areas around the building, including entryways and walkways.Sweep and remove debris from the grounds to ensure a clean and tidy appearance.Ensure exterior garbage bins are emptied and properly managed.Supplies, Equipment & Facility SupportUse appropriate cleaning supplies and chemicals in a safe and effective manner, following all instructions and safety data sheets (SDS).Ensure that all cleaning materials and equipment are properly stored and maintained.Monitor cleaning supplies and notify the supervisor when replenishment is needed.Maintain an organized inventory of cleaning products and equipment.Report any maintenance issues or areas requiring attention to the Facility Supervisor and Sanitation Shift Lead, such as plumbing issues, fixture damage, leaks, or supply shortages.Assist with the setup and breakdown of furniture or other items for meetings or events as needed.Follow company safety guidelines, especially in non-production areas, to ensure compliance with health, safety, and sanitation standards.Safety & Food Safety ComplianceActively participate in Wawona Frozen Foods' Safety program to help maintain a healthy, injury-free work environment.Participate in training and company meetings to facilitate individual and company growth.Comply with all GMP, HACCP, Food Safety, Food Defense, and SQF policies and procedures; empowered to notify and/or act on any safety, quality, or compliance concern within the scope of the role.Proactively pursue continuing education to stay current on sanitation best practices.COMPETENCIESAttention to Detail – Consistently identifies areas requiring cleaning and notices when standards are not met.Reliability – Reports to work as scheduled and completes assigned tasks with minimal supervision.Time Management – Prioritizes and completes cleaning tasks efficiently within the shift.Safety Awareness – Follows safety procedures and proper handling of cleaning chemicals and equipment.Initiative – Proactively identifies maintenance issues and supply needs without being asked.Teamwork – Coordinates with sanitation and facilities staff to support a clean, safe work environment.Adaptability – Adjusts to changing priorities and occasional after-hours or weekend scheduling needs.QUALIFICATIONSThe requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required to perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable qualified individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.Education and ExperienceHigh school diploma or equivalent preferred.Previous experience in janitorial or custodial work, preferably in a food manufacturing hotel or house cleaning setting.SkillsFamiliarity with cleaning products, tools, and equipment.Basic knowledge of safety procedures, especially in a manufacturing or food production environment.Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.Good communication skills and the ability to follow instructions.Self-motivated.Language SkillsAbility to read and understand basic written instructions, safety data sheets (SDS), and cleaning product labels.Ability to follow oral instructions from supervisors regarding cleaning tasks and schedules.Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors and coworkers regarding facility needs and maintenance issues.WORK ENVIRONMENTThe work environment characteristics described here represent those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The floors in work areas are damp and slippery, and fruit debris on the floor requires slip-resistant shoes when working in production areas.
