Data Engineer

Data EngineerWe are looking for a savvy Data Engineer to join our growing team of analytics experts. The hire will be responsible for expanding and optimizing our data and data pipeline architecture, as well as optimizing data flow and collection for cross functional teams. The ideal candidate is an experienced data pipeline builder and data wrangler who enjoys optimizing data systems and building them from the ground up. The Data Engineer will support our software developers, database architects, data analysts and data scientists on data initiatives and will ensure optimal data delivery architecture is consistent throughout ongoing projects. They must be self-directed and comfortable supporting the data needs of multiple teams, systems and products. The right candidate will be excited by the prospect of optimizing or even re-designing our company's data architecture to support our next generation of products and data initiatives.PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIES:Create and maintain optimal data pipeline architectureAssemble large, complex data sets that meet functional / non-functional business requirementsIdentify, design, and implement internal process improvements: automating manual processes, optimizing data delivery, re-designing infrastructure for greater scalability, etc.Build the infrastructure required for optimal extraction, transformation, and loading of data from a wide variety of data sources using IICS, SQL and AWS 'big data' technologiesBuild analytics tools that utilize the data pipeline to provide actionable insights into Facility master, operational efficiency and other key business performance metricsWork with stakeholders including the Executive, Product, Data and Design teams to assist with data-related technical issues and support their data infrastructure needsKeep our data separated and secure across national boundaries through multiple data centers and AWS regionsCreate data tools for analytics and data scientist team members that assist them in building and optimizing our product into an innovative industry leaderWork with data and analytics experts to strive for greater functionality in our data systemsTroubleshoots issues with minimal guidance, identifies bottlenecks in existing data workflows and provides solutions for a scalable, defect-free applicationWorks with onshore/offshore team to analyze, develop and improve pipeline run times as well as produce accurate defect free codeComplies with Company policy and practices relating to the System Development Life CycleProvides Tier 3 support and resolution of IT issues escalated by IT Customer SupportSupport audit and compliance reporting requestsSupport the operation of Snowflake products on a 24/7 basis as neededSupports production environment in the event of emergencyParticipate in on-call support 24x7 weekly rotation of the operation of InformaticaPerforms other job-related duties as assigned or apparentQUALIFICATIONS:2+ years' experience working with data warehousing, IICS and snowflake DBT development2+ years' experience combined experience with any of the following database technologies (RDBMS: MSSQL, MySQL Oracle; NoSQL: MarkLogic, Snowflake, DynamoDB, Redis)2 years' experience working on large data initiatives (> 5 terabytes)Advanced working SQL knowledge and experience working with relational databases, query authoring (SQL) as well as working familiarity with a variety of databasesExperience building and optimizing IICS data pipelines, architectures and data setsExperience performing root cause analysis on internal and external data and processes to answer specific business questions and identify opportunities for improvementBuild processes supporting data transformation, data structures, metadata, dependency and workload managementWorking knowledge of version control systems (e.g. SVN, Git)MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:2+ years of experience in a Data Engineer role, who has attained a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Informatics, Information Systems or another quantitative fieldAWS: 1 year experienceDevOps Practices: 1 year experience2+ years' experience working with data warehousing, ETL development and ETL architecture2+ years' experience combined experience with any of the following database technologies (RDBMS: MSSQL, MySQL Oracle; NoSQL: MarkLogic, Snowflake, DynamoDB, Redis)2 years' experience working on large data initiatives (> 5 terabytes)
