Transportation Driver

The Transportation Driver at Emerald Nursing & Rehab Lancaster is responsible for safely and efficiently transporting residents to and from appointments, activities, and other destinations as required. This role ensures that residents receive timely, reliable transportation while maintaining the highest standards of safety and comfort.

Role involves working both indoors and outdoors, including handling vehicle-related tasks and interacting with residents in various settings.

Responsibilities:

• Safely transport residents to medical appointments, therapy sessions, social activities, and other destinations as scheduled.
• Perform routine checks and maintenance on transportation vehicles to ensure they are in good working condition. Report any issues to the maintenance department.
• Adhere to all traffic laws and facility policies regarding vehicle safety and resident transportation.
• Provide assistance to residents entering and exiting the vehicle, ensuring their safety and comfort throughout the journey.
• Maintain accurate records of transportation schedules, mileage, and any incidents or observations during trips.
• Coordinate with facility staff, family members, and external providers to ensure effective and timely transportation arrangements.
• Be prepared to handle emergency situations calmly and efficiently, including coordinating with emergency services if needed.
• Exhibit professionalism and empathy while interacting with residents, family members, and facility staff. Address any concerns or special requests with a positive attitude.

Qualifications:

• Must possess a valid Nebraska driver's license with a clean driving record.
• Previous experience in a driving or transportation role preferred, particularly within a healthcare or senior care environment.
• Ability to lift and assist residents as needed and to handle physical tasks related to vehicle operation and maintenance.
