*Hiring Registered Nurse (RN) Critical Care - Trauma ICU

Critical Care Nursing PositionWelcome to our Critical Care Nursing Department! Provides professional and skilled nursing care to patients using the "patient centered care" model of SMHCS (policy 126.054) in accordance with the ANA and AACN's Standards of Professional Practice. We are a 62 bed unit with 3 areas of specialties that you can work in.Trauma ICU: Patient Population: patients with a primary traumatic diagnosis requiring complex nursing assessment skills and care including but not limited to:Any trauma related fractures or orthopedic abnormalities requiring surgical intervention or traction application, splinting, casts, or other skeletal immobilization.Acute Traumatic Brain Injuries with potential for ventriculostomiesAny trauma related injuries requiring surgeryCRRTManaging patients on ventilators/BipapTitration of vasoactive medications (inotropes, vasopressors, vasodilators)Initiation and titrating sedation/analgesic drips*Opportunities for Novice and Experienced Nurses :Individualized orientationNurse Residency for all new graduates with the implementation of ECCO (essentials of critical care orientation)Tuition ReimbursementOpportunities for paid certification and incentivized pay including but not limited to CCRN (Critical Care Registered Nurse), TCARCritical Care Internship with knowledge base lecture series provided in the departmentRequired QualificationsBLS (Basic Life Support) through American Heart Association or American Red CrossACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support); required for experienced RN, has to be completed by end of orientation for the novice Critical Care RNSuccessful completion of Basic Arrhythmia test within 90 days of date of hireBSN requirement within 5 years of date of hire for the ASN candidateRequired basic working knowledge of commonly used computer applications including but not limited to MicrosoftPreferred Qualifications- Prefer National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification upon hire.
