Manufacturing Engineering Supervisor A Manufacturing Engineering Supervisor is responsible for advanced line support to maintain manufacturing performance and project management, driving strategic initiatives focused on automation, process optimization, and scalable production methods to support company growth. This hands‑on position reports to the Manufacturing Manager and works closely with shop operators, maintenance technicians, plant support services, and plant leadership. Responsibilities Lead technical and engineering support for maintenance and production employees to identify and implement sustainable solutions that meet safety, quality, and production objectives. Lead root‑cause analysis and implement long‑term solutions to prevent recurrences, managing key performance indicators such as run hours, MTBF, and cost to repair. Oversee, manage, and hold accountable manufacturing engineering personnel, including direct oversight of the Manufacturing Engineer, Process Tooling Technician, and CNC Programmers. Direct all aspects of team development: selection, training, goal setting, career development, and performance management. Lead strategic Lean and quality initiatives, collaborating with Supply Chain and Quality Managers on quality issues related to purchased and machined components. Design and develop manufacturing processes for enhancements, product changes, and new products, as well as related fixtures and tooling that achieve zero‑defect levels and low product cost. Design, implement, and maintain advanced manufacturing systems and automation equipment to increase throughput and capacity. Develop, evaluate, improve, and document manufacturing processes with a continuous focus on scalability to meet expanding production demands. Develop and implement process control techniques and procedures. Analyze manufacturing process flows to enhance quality, reduce cost, and increase throughput. Collaborate with design engineering on product tooling and design for manufacturability (DFM) in a high‑growth environment. Estimate staffing requirements, production times, and relative costs to provide data for operational decisions and forecast future equipment and personnel needs for expansion. Provide engineering support in the production department to troubleshoot and resolve technical problems. Complete administrative responsibilities including meetings, reports, goals, training, budgets, financials, and expenses to targets and expectations. Support company policies, procedures, goals, objectives, and good manufacturing practices. Qualifications At least 5 years of manufacturing experience in a growing facility or high‑growth machine shop setting. At least 2 years of supervisory experience. Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field from an accredited college. Strong cross‑functional team communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills. Demonstrated critical thinking, problem‑solving, and initiative. Preferred Knowledge and Experience Six Sigma Black/Green Belt or Lean Manufacturing experience. ERP systems experience (Epicor preferred). Machine‑shop experience running and setting up CNC mills and lathes. CNC programming knowledge, SolidCam and G‑code preferred. Familiarity with PLC programming (Allen‑Bradley, Siemens, etc.) and industrial networking protocols. Critical Skills Trustworthiness – honesty, integrity, and reliability. Curiosity – continually seek knowledge to improve the organization and reduce ambiguity. Physical Requirements Must lift up to 35 pounds. Must tolerate prolonged periods standing.
