Electrical Maintenance Supervisor

The Electrical Maintenance Supervisor leads the overnight maintenance team of 10 to 15 electricians, mechanics, technicians, and multi-craft technicians. The role supervises and develops the crew, maintains equipment reliability across eight production lines, two sauce decks, and a press deck, manages work orders and the preventive maintenance program in the CMMS, supports plant electrical and control systems, and enforces safety and food safety standards. The plant employs approximately 300 people.

Schedule

•     Sunday 9:30 PM through Friday 6:00 AM, primarily overnight.

•     Weekend work is not typically required. Occasional weekend support is usually handled remotely by phone and rarely requires an on-site visit.

•     On-call rotation for after-hours emergencies.

Responsibilities

•     Supervise, schedule, coach, and evaluate electricians, maintenance mechanics, and multi-craft technicians on night shift.

•     Set goals and accountability standards for the team, deliver formal and informal performance feedback, and address employee performance issues directly.

•     Provide electrical and mechanical maintenance support for process equipment, packaging lines, utilities, buildings, grounds, and plant infrastructure.

•     Enter, prioritize, assign, and close out work orders in the CMMS, and maintain the preventive and predictive maintenance program.

•     Troubleshoot PLCs, electrical systems, and instrumentation, and support plant automation and controls projects with the engineering department.

•     Ensure all electrical and instrumentation work is completed safely and in compliance with Washington state electrical code, NFPA 70, and NFPA 70E.

•     Develop, implement, and maintain SOPs, SSOPs, one point lessons (OPLs), and PM procedures, and train the team to them.

•     Support the instrument calibration program.

•     Partner with the Maintenance Manager on departmental budget and parts inventory, and coordinate with purchasing to control spend.

•     Enforce cGMPs, food safety, sanitation, and quality policies, and support SQF, safety, and energy committee activities.

•     Coordinate and inspect contracted electrical, mechanical, and food industry system work.

•     Perform hands-on electrical and maintenance work as needed.

•     Drive continuous improvement initiatives that reduce downtime and improve equipment reliability and plant performance.

Required qualifications

•     Minimum 5 years of industrial electrical experience, including implementing and maintaining a preventive or predictive maintenance system.

•     Minimum 3 years troubleshooting PLCs for process issues.

•     Experience leading and developing a maintenance team.

•     Strong background across both electrical and mechanical systems, with the ability to troubleshoot and support multiple maintenance disciplines.

•     Working knowledge of NFPA 70 and NFPA 70E codes.

•     Proficient with electrical test and instrumentation calibration equipment.

•     Experience writing and maintaining SOPs, one point lessons, and preventive maintenance procedures.

•     Experience using a CMMS.

•     Working knowledge of FDA and OSHA regulations, GMPs, sanitation, and HACCP.

•     Food manufacturing experience strongly preferred, including food safety standards and maintenance compliance in a food production environment.

Preferred qualifications

•     Washington State electrical journeyman license, or an out-of-state license with the ability to pass the Washington State exam.

•     Bachelor’s degree in engineering or manufacturing, or certification in electrical or instrumentation and industrial automation.

•     Advanced PLC programming and troubleshooting experience.

•     Experience with Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Wonderware, or Inductive Automation platforms, and Ethernet communications.

•     Packaging manufacturing experience.

•     Union environment experience.

•     HACCP certification, SQF certification, food safety programs training, ammonia training, boiler operator training, or pneumatics training.

•     Experience leading electrical reliability and continuous improvement initiatives.

•     Knowledge of maintenance budgeting and forecasting.

Work environment and physical requirements

•     Work is performed in office and manufacturing plant environments, with occasional outdoor exposure.

•     May frequently lift up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift over 100 pounds with assistance.

•     Frequently climbing, standing, walking, crouching, kneeling, reaching, pushing, pulling, grasping, and occasionally crawling.

•     Frequent use of far vision, near vision, depth perception, and color vision.

•     Frequent exposure to loud machine noise and electrical current; occasional exposure to chemicals, odors or fumes, extreme temperatures, and bloodborne pathogens.
