Details Level 1 Trauma, acute care hospital setting in a Cardiac Stepdown Unit (CVU) 18-bed unit caring for intermediate care and downgraded CVICU patients Supports thoracic program, EP, cath lab, and structural heart services Common diagnoses include cath lab procedures, CVA, CHF, and A-fib RVR Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4, and 1:3 for post-surgical patients in the first 24 hours RNs required to titrate drips such as Amio, nitro, nicardizem, epi, and cardizem Remote tele techs monitor patients, but RNs must read and interpret their own strips Hospitalist and intensivist in-house 24/7, with cardiology on call after hours RT in-house 24/7 managing BiPAP, CPAP, and nasal cannula equipment Charge nurse present each shift, rarely taking a patient assignment Patient care techs on unit at a 1:18 ratio Uses EPIC EMR 12-hour night shifts, scheduled 1830-0700 or 0630-1900 Every other weekend required Floating required to units of same or lower acuity No call or standby requirements Requirements Active RN license (NE State or Compact/NLC) required at time of submission Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required Minimum 1 year of experience in a cardiac stepdown or similar patient population required Experience titrating cardiac drips required Experience reading and interpreting telemetry strips required Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months worked, and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years worked, including employment dates and rehire eligibility Driver's license required for consideration Additional Information Provide intermediate cardiac and vascular nursing care, including drip titration and telemetry interpretation 1-2 shifts of unit-specific orientation tailored to experience Pass/fail skills exam given during orientation on Friday; open-book format with a 90% passing threshold using provided resources Navy blue scrubs required Artificial nails are prohibited in patient care areas Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility Candidates may not have been directly employed (full time, part time, or PRN) by any CommonSpirit-affiliated facility, including CHI or Dignity, within the past year Up to 7 days of RTO may be requested upfront; no additional RTO will be approved after submission First-time travelers may be considered American Traveler Job ID P-768843.
