POSITION SUMMARY: Transports individuals to and from the Communicare programs in accordance to route and schedule.


QUALIFICATIONS : Must be 21 years of age or older with a high school diploma or GED, and have effective communication skills. Must provide own transportation, have a valid vehicle operator license, a clean motor vehicle record check and pass a DOT physical. Must pass a national background check. Must pass Drug and Alcohol screen test and have no record of substance abuse related violations in the past three (3) years.

SKILL SETS: Must have effective communication and writing skills.

PHYSICAL AND ENVIORMENTAL DEMANDS : Frequent talking and hearing needed when communicating with individuals, family, guardian, and staff. May be some lifting when assisting with ambulating or helping into vehicle. Possible exposure to bloodborne pathogens and communicable diseases. Frequent exposure to adverse, inclement weather conditions. Sitting for long periods of time.

JOB SPECIFIC FUNCTIONS:

1. Drive routes and shuttle vehicles throughout region.
2. Assists individuals in loading and unloading from vehicle.
3. Maintains required transportation and vehicle records.
4. Assist in the screening of passenger trip tickets, transportation scheduling, and updating driver information.
5. Conduct vehicle inspections.
6. Recognize vehicle mechanical deficiencies and ensures corrections.
7. Schedule DOT inspections.
8. Participates in agency continuing quality improvement (CQI) activities.
9. Performs other duties as assigned.

MANDATORY REQUIREMENTS:

1. Adheres to Communicare, Inc. policies and procedures.

2. Attends mandatory in-services and other training/educational programs as required.

Full-time employees receive 12 days of vacation time and 12 days of sick time accrued throughout their first year of employment. Employees receive 10 holidays per year with two of those being floating holidays that can be used as they need them. We also provide up to four hours of employee appreciation hours per year and a pop-up store to select and item from.


Employee Assistance Counseling services available to all employees with limited dependent benefits. Full-time employees are eligible for up to 10 total visits per calendar year; dependents are eligible for up to 6 visits. Half-time employees are eligible for up to 6 visits; dependents are eligible for 3 visits. PT and PRN employees are eligible for 3 visits; dependents are eligible for 3 visits.
