P.D. Brooks is hiring Traffic Control Crew Leads to help set up and manage safe work zones. We offer on-the-job training and support your growth every step of the way. At P.D. The Crew Lead Traffic Controller works with construction teams to ensure that vehicles and pedestrians do not interfere with laborers and their projects. Candidates must be certified in basic traffic safety techniques and be proficient as a Traffic Controller. The Crew Lead must create a safe work zone that ensures traffic does not pose a threat to the workers. This involves setting up cones and barriers to direct traffic, and holding up signs to tell traffic to stop or proceed slowly. The Crew Lead must constantly be aware of the surrounding construction and traffic activity and must comply with all safety regulations. Responsibilities Be proficient in all Traffic Controller activities Set up, maintain, and remove temporary work zones including warning signs and traffic cones, in accordance with ATSSA and DOT regulations Load and unload work zone equipment to and from the company vehicle at the job site Complete and submit all necessary paperwork before leaving the last job site Wear and maintain proper PPE in accordance with company policy Ensure that company vehicles are kept clean and orderly and inform management of any safety concerns or vehicle problems Coordinate work operations with the on‑site foreman Review start time and location of the job site or meeting location as established and sent by the office scheduler via company app Drive the company vehicle safely when commuting to and from job sites, if the employee chooses to use it for commuting Read and understand the company safety manual and employee handbook Report to the Field Supervisor Perform other job duties as assigned Requirements Must be 18 years of age or older Valid driver’s license and clean driving record (mandatory for employees who elect to use a company vehicle to commute) Must have a smartphone with internet access for timekeeping and communication to receive the work schedule Excellent communication skills Be able to work in all weather conditions and tolerate varying climates of heat, cold, and rain Pass a drug screen prior to employment and maintain a drug‑free status Be able to stand for the entire shift; hand and arm movement required The position does not allow for frequent breaks Be able to lift 50 pounds Be physically capable of performing all flagging duties Have reliable transportation to and from job sites. All employees are permitted to drive their own vehicles to the job site or assigned meeting location; vehicle sharing is voluntary and for convenience.
