Facilities Project Manager - Design & Construction

Position Description Reporting directly to the Vice President for Facilities, theFacilities Project Manager – Design & Construction providesleadership on strategic and operational matters and is responsible for the coordination, implementation, execution, reporting, and completion of Facilities projects, overseeing the operational and budgetary activities of Physical Plant and Grounds, Custodial Operations, Campus Planning and Improvements, and Environmental Health and Safety. The Project Manager provides project design oversight and construction management services that advance the mission of the institution and foster collaboration across all University divisions and departments, offering critical facilities insight, support and leadership to address the short- and long-term priorities of the institution's facilities. Job Responsibilities Manage planning, budgeting, design, consultant and contractorselection, pre-construction bidding, construction management,quality assurance, and project turnover to operations andmaintenance for multiple capital construction projects. Develop processes and procedures for facilities-related projectsand serve as the institution's subject matter expert on projectdesign and construction management. Monitor and evaluate activities on assigned projects by trackingprogress, managing project documentation, and preparing status andproject close-out reports. Provide leadership and supervision to facilities staff —including technicians, maintenance workers, and custodial teams —managing a workforce of approximately 30–40 staff and outsidecontractors for routine services and major repairs. Foster a positive and productive work environment that promotesteamwork and professional development. Collaborate with the Vice President for Facilities to developproject scope, support project development and planning, andestablish maintenance and operations plans upon completion. Serve as the primary contact for the internal and externalcommunity on facilities management, capital planning, andconstruction; monitor workflow, work products, results, methods,and procedures. Draft Requests for Proposals in consultation with the procurementoffice, and supervise and coordinate the design, permitting, andconstruction activities of contractors. Foster collaboration and communication with campus departments —including academic units, administrative offices, and studentorganizations — and participate in campus committees and meetingsaddressing facilities-related issues and initiatives. Provide consistent, timely, and reliable communication among allproject stakeholders. Stay current with emerging developments in the field throughrelevant publications and participation in professionalorganizations. Other duties as assigned. Requirements Required: Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Construction Management,Facilities Management, or a related field; relevant experience maysubstitute for some education. Minimum of three (3) years of related work experience. Minimum of three (3) years of supervisory or managementexperience. Demonstrated knowledge of project scheduling and coordination,with the ability to develop, implement, and maintain detailedproject schedules. Ability to develop and lead project teams, accomplish projectmilestones within set timeframes, and manage the work ofconsultants and contractors. Excellent planning, assessment, and communication skills, withthe ability to work effectively with internal and externalstakeholders within a collegial, participatory culture. Strong problem-solving skills, sound judgment, and the ability tohandle sensitive and confidential information while managingcomplex issues involving multiple constituencies. Ability to work independently, set goals, and determine how toaccomplish results with broad guidance and overall direction. Valid driver's license. Preferred: OSHA 30 certification, or willingness to obtain upon hire. Successful experience leading change in a higher education orsimilarly complex institutional environment. Supplemental Information Work Environment: This position operates in both office and campus/field settings,with extensive standing and walking, occasional lifting of items upto 25 lbs., and periodic exposure to all weather conditions.
