Registered Nurse CVICU Clinical Nurse Coordinator

Heart Hospital of Austin, a part of St. David's HealthCare, is seeking a Registered Nurse CVICU Clinical Nurse Coordinator to join our specialized cardiovascular intensive care team. In this role, you will provide expert, evidence-based nursing care to critically ill cardiac and post-cardiac surgery patients, including those requiring mechanical circulatory support, vasoactive drips, invasive hemodynamic monitoring, and advanced cardiac interventions. You will coordinate the clinical workflow on the CVICU, serving as a clinical resource and charge nurse, collaborating closely with leading cardiologists, cardiothoracic surgeons, advanced practice providers, and multidisciplinary team members to ensure safe, high-quality, patient-centered care. Responsibilities include assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating individualized patient care plans; overseeing patient admissions, discharges, and transfers; managing complex cardiac drips and devices; interpreting cardiac rhythms and hemodynamic data; and ensuring adherence to clinical protocols and regulatory standards. You will mentor and precept nurses, support staff, and new team members, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement. The Clinical Nurse Coordinator will participate in code and rapid response events, assist with bedside procedures, and facilitate communication with patients and families regarding treatment plans and education about cardiac conditions and post-hospital care. You will partner with leadership to support quality initiatives, performance improvement projects, and the implementation of best practices in cardiovascular critical care.
