About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Step Down Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 1 year required License: Active Registered Nurse License Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS Must-Have: - Experience in a step-down unit preferred - Ability to manage a patient ratio of 1:5 - Proficiency in charting systems, preferably Meditech - Must be able to travel Description: Nurses on this unit care for adult patients who are acutely ill with a wide variety of medical problems. The patient population includes cardiac, neuro, renal, infectious disease, and pulmonary cases. As a registered nurse, you will be accountable for the coordination of direct patient care and education. You will be responsible for accessing and managing ports, administering blood products, and managing BiPAP/CPAP. You will interpret dysrhythmias, provide isolation precautions, and manage cardiac drips without titration. You will also be involved in neuro stepdown care, oxygen administration, and wound care. Experience with insulin drips, tracheostomy care, and telemetry management is desired. Interdisciplinary support will be available from various specialties. Patients may present with diagnoses such as hypertension, heart failure, stroke, and respiratory failure, among others. Special procedures may include pre/post cardiac catheterizations and management of DKA. You will be required to work every other Saturday and have Sundays off. Flu vaccine is required unless a medical or religious exemption is provided. Compliance with organizational policies, including a zero-tolerance policy for THC, is mandatory.
