About the Role:
Washler Garbage & Recycling is looking for a reliable and hardworking Recycle Center Backup Driver Helper to join our team in Garrett, IN! This is a great opportunity to get your foot in the door with a essential community service company where no two days are exactly the same. If you enjoy working outdoors, staying active, and being part of a dedicated crew, we want to hear from you!

Responsibilities:

Assist drivers with the collection and transport of recyclable materials along designated routes
Load and unload recyclables from residential and commercial pickup locations
Step in as a backup driver when needed to ensure routes are completed on schedule
Sort and handle recyclable materials safely and efficiently at the recycle center
Maintain cleanliness and organization of vehicles and work areas
Follow all safety protocols and company procedures during collection operations
Communicate effectively with route drivers and facility staff to ensure smooth daily operations

Requirements:

Valid driver's license required; CDL a plus for backup driving responsibilities
Previous experience in waste management, recycling, or a labor/helper role preferred
Ability to lift heavy objects repeatedly and perform physical outdoor work in all weather conditions
Dependable, punctual, and able to follow a consistent schedule
Strong work ethic with a team-first attitude
Ability to follow safety guidelines and company procedures
Must be located in or able to commute to Garrett, IN
