Bus Monitor

Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and attentive individual to join our Transportation Department as a Bus Monitor. This full-time position plays a crucial role in ensuring the safety and well-being of students during their transportation to and from school. The ideal candidate will possess strong interpersonal skills, a commitment to student safety, and the ability to manage various situations with poise and professionalism.

Responsibilities
- Monitor students' behavior on the bus to ensure a safe and respectful environment.
- Assist students in boarding and disembarking the bus, ensuring they are seated safely and securely.
- Enforce safety rules and regulations, including the use of seat belts and appropriate conduct while on the bus.
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, and school staff regarding any concerns or incidents.
- Respond to and manage any emergencies or disciplinary issues that may arise during transit.
- Conduct regular checks of the bus to ensure it is clean and free of hazards.
- Collaborate with the bus driver to ensure smooth operations and adherence to schedules.
- Attend training sessions and meetings as required to stay informed of policies and procedures.
- Maintain accurate records of student behavior and incidents for reporting purposes.

Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or training in child development or education is a plus.
- Previous experience working with children or in a safety-related role preferred.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact positively with students, parents, and staff.
- Ability to remain calm and composed in stressful situations.
- Knowledge of safety procedures and protocols related to student transportation.
- Physical ability to assist students as needed, including lifting or helping those with mobility challenges.
- Must pass a background check and any required drug screening.
- Availability to work flexible hours, including early mornings and late afternoons, as per the transportation schedule.
