RN Emergency Room

Job Summary:

The Emergency Room Nurse provides skilled nursing care in a critical access rural hospital setting, primarily during night shifts. This role involves assessing and treating patients with urgent and emergent health conditions, collaborating with interdisciplinary teams, and ensuring patient safety and comfort. Flexibility in scheduling and strong clinical skills are essential to meet the dynamic needs of the emergency department. Responsibilities:

• Perform patient assessments and triage in the emergency room setting.
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed.
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement patient care plans.
• Monitor patient status and respond to changes promptly.
• Document patient care activities accurately and timely.
• Provide education and emotional support to patients and their families.
• Maintain compliance with hospital policies and emergency department protocols.
• Participate in quality improvement and safety initiatives.

Required Skills & Certifications:

• Active Registered Nurse license in the state of practice.
• Minimum of 2 years nursing experience, preferably including emergency or critical care.
• Strong clinical assessment, medication administration, and treatment planning skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and high-stress environment.
• Bachelor's degree in Nursing or related field preferred.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

• Experience in rural or critical access hospital settings.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
• Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) certification.
• Experience with electronic medical records (EMR) systems.

Special Considerations:

• Primary work during 12-hour night shifts (7 PM to 7 AM).
• Flexibility to work occasional day or mid shifts as needed.
• Expectation to work some weekends.
• May be subject to block scheduling efforts but no guarantees.

Scheduling:

• Typically scheduled for three 12-hour night shifts per week.
• Shift assignments may vary; flexibility required.
• Scheduling attempts to block shifts but may include variable shift patterns.
