Banquet Houseperson

Position Summary Ensuring the smooth execution of events, banquets, and conferences in the convention center and outdoor amphitheater. Responsibilities will include setting up and breaking down event spaces, maintaining cleanliness and organization, assisting with food and beverage service, and providing exceptional customer service to the guests. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Sets up banquet equipment for Food and Beverage events, and meeting rooms as specified on Banquet Event Orders. Includes setting chairs, tables, linens, risers, steps, podiums and all necessary banquet equipment requested for group events and meetings, in set ups. Upon the conclusion of banquet events/meetings; breaks down equipment, returns equipment to storage areas, or re-sets room, as necessary. Maintains, cleans, and stores banquet equipment in provided storage areas. Maintains, cleans and organizes banquet equipment and linen storage rooms. Preps, maintains, and cleans amphitheater concession areas. Punctual and regular attendance is an essential responsibility for all team members and are expected to report to work based upon the assigned schedule each day in accordance with the Attendance Policy for Pueblo of Sandia. Additional Responsibilities Preform other work-related duties as assigned. Key Performance Indicators This position has Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) identified as a measurement of success. KPI’s will be shared to all team members who work in this job title and feedback will be provided regarding the successful completion of the KPI’s as part of the performance review process. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Ability to follow written instructions from Banquet Event Order. Ability to follow verbal directions as given by Banquet Captain and Convention Center Manager. Organizational skills. Maintains the highest standard of personal hygiene. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and work with a sense of urgency. Ability to work harmoniously and professionally with co-workers and supervisors. Qualifications Education and Experience Preferred: High school diploma, GED certification or equivalent. Some experience with banquet event operations. Note: Relevant work experience or education may be substituted to satisfy education and/or work experience. License/Certifications/Registrations Must be able to successfully pass a stringent background investigation. Will require a pre-employment and random drug screening. Pulling Using upper extremities to exert force to draw, haul, or tug objects in a sustained motion. Seeing The ability to perceive the nature of objects by the eye. Sitting Particularly for sustained periods of time. Standing Particularly for sustained periods of time. Stooping Bending body downward and forward by bending spine at the waist. This factor is important if it occurs to a considerable degree and requires full motion of the lower extremities and back muscles. Talking Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word. Those activities in which they must convey detailed or important spoken instructions to other workers accurately, loudly, or quickly. List Working Conditions Required: Work is performed indoors and outdoors. Outside work is subject to temperature extremes and inclement weather conditions. Work hours subject to change with overtime work required. Subject to hazards which may cause personal bodily harm; smoke; diseases; cuts bruises, burns, common cold, influenza, dust, odors and elevated noise levels. Tasks may be performed on uneven, inclined, hard and soft carpeted floors, cement structures and surfaces. Duties may involve walking, standing for long periods of time, sitting and crouching. Must be able to lift, push or pull 50-100 lbs. Specific required movements include the following: Trunk- bend, twist, rotate, push, pull, carry. Arms – reach, carry, lift, twist, and rotate. Legs – lift, push, pull, twist, and rotate. Hands – Grasp, manipulate bilateral coordination, hand and eye coordination, and overall and finger dexterity.
