Clinical Lab Scientist

As a CLS/CGMBS at Inocras, you will be performing clinical laboratory testing for a whole genome Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) assay in order to provide doctors and patients complete genetic profiles for cancer and rare diseases. You will work in our high complexity CAP/CLIA environment while employing independent judgment and responsibility with minimal supervision. Responsibilities Follow all procedures and protocols pertaining to patient sample processing, including pre-analytical, analytical, and post-analytical testing. Perform DNA/RNA extraction, PCR, and Next Generation Sequencing on patient specimens including all steps from sample processing to result reporting as per standard operating procedures at Genome Insight. Review, interpret and report patient results in LIMS as needed. Maintain pertinent records according to the Quality Management plan to ensure compliance with all local, state and federal regulations. Assist in assay validation studies of lab developed tests Demonstrate ability to maintain competency and take on training responsibilities as needed. Perform troubleshooting, maintenance, and problem resolution on all laboratory equipment. Qualifications Possesses a bachelor's degree in a chemical, physical, biological or clinical laboratory science, or medical technology from an accredited institution or higher. Must possess an active, valid CLS or Clinical Genetic Molecular Biologist Scientist (CGMBS) license issued by the state of California At least 1 year previous NGS experience is required. Working knowledge of local, state, and federal laboratory regulations Capable of excelling within a team environment; accomplishing assigned workload and any additional project(s) daily Ability to communicate effectively, be highly organized, have attention to detail and ability to prioritize tasks. Display a strong sense of urgency, accountability and responsibility for self. Ability to read and interpret documents, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Troubleshoot instruments and resolve technical problems whenever possible, document corrective action(s), and report problems to Supervisor.
