Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Digestive Health Procedures Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 8 Experience: Minimum of three (3) years of relevant nursing experience License: State RN License in good standing Certifications: BLS (American Heart Association), ACLS (American Heart Association) Must-Have: Patient care procedures, nursing, patient assessment, nursing interventions Description: The staff Registered Nurse (RN) is a professional caregiver who assumes responsibility for a group of patients for a designated time frame. Provides care to these patients through the utilization of the nursing process, nursing trends, technology, financial and human resources. Performs all responsibilities and duties required by the unit as specific to the scope of service. Implements procedures and theories related to the specific area of practice. Maintains up-to-date and accurate documentation of nursing care provided to assure the integration of information for use by the healthcare team. Completes initial assessments upon patient admission and develops appropriate plans of care in accordance with unit standards based on patient and family needs. Implements plans of care, nursing interventions, and patient care procedures. Modifies plans of care based on continuous evaluation. Takes responsibility for patient and employee safety by reporting and/or correcting safety hazards and incidents. Communicates with others directly and in private when necessary to resolve issues. Offers constructive feedback to assist in the professional development of peers. Confers with colleagues to expand knowledge base. Identifies personal learning needs and takes initiative to begin appropriate solutions. Fulfills all requirements of departmental competencies. Prepares patients for procedures. Completes assessments, reviews health history, starts IVs, and provides education to patients. Monitors and sedates patients during procedures. Cares for patients in both phase 1 and phase 2 recovery. Assists during cases requiring anesthesia involvement. Defines, directs, supervises and evaluates patient care directly and via delegation to others using the nursing process.
