Chesapeake Regional Healthcare started an open-heart surgery program in the spring of 2024. Over the years, we have earned numerous accolades and accreditations for our existing interventional cardiology program, and by expanding into open-heart surgery, we have been able to provide a smart choice for life-saving services to the communities of southeastern Virginia and northeastern North Carolina.

The Cardiothoracic Intensive Care Unit (CTICU) is an 8-bed unit housed within the Critical Care Tower. We use a universal bed model such that patients are admitted to their room after surgery and are discharged from the same room, which has proven to be excellent for patient and family experiences.

We are seeking patient-centered, innovative, experienced RNs with at least one year of intensive care experience.

Summary

The Registered Nurse (RN) provides safe, compassionate, clinically effective patient care by utilizing the nursing process of assessment, planning, intervention, implementation, and evaluation; and effectively interact with patients, significant others, and other care team members while maintaining standards of professional nursing.

Education and Experience

Education: A minimum of an Associates degree in Nursing is required, BSN preferred

Experience: A minimum of 1 year cardiothoracic (CT) ICU experience is required

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

Registered Nurse licensed in the State of Virginia or compact state with current BLS and/or ACLS Certification. Certification in a related specialty field preferred.
