Assistant Principal Maple Hill Elementary School
The NPS Elementary Principal is responsible for assisting the building principal in leading the school team and engaging the community in a shared mission to ensure that all students become the Vision of the Graduate. The assistant principal will support the principal to create, implement and continuously improve systems that cultivate a collaborative and innovative learning culture that is relentlessly focused on the growth and happiness of every student, teacher, and leader.
Essential duties and responsibilities include:
- Embracing a learner-centered approach and inspiring innovation and ongoing improvement of programs and services to achieve equitable outcomes for each and every learner.
- Securing, deploying and marshaling resources necessary to accomplish equitable outcomes for all learners.
- Leading a culture where inquiry, risk-taking, and collaborative problem solving are embraced. Demanding a shared belief that all students can exceed our expectations.
- Building the capacity of all staff through high quality professional learning experiences.
- Supervising and evaluating staff members.
- Sharing the district's vision and responsibility for creating a comprehensive competency-based curriculum.
- Ensuring a continuum of opportunities for both academic and social/emotional growth as well as intervention and support strategies.
- Identifying, hiring and growing a faculty and staff with a shared commitment to engage, empower and inspire every student in every class every day.
- Serving as a model learner; continually seeking to improve his/her own leadership practice.
- Developing a comprehensive strategic plan that articulates the actions and accountability processes that will ensure that every student is becoming the Vision of the Graduate.
- Preparing various reports concerning building programs and staff.
- Maintaining all student records and transcripts.
- Preparing annual school budget for instructional and other school areas, and ensuring that funds are spent according to proper fiscal procedures.
- Developing the school's master schedule.
- Performing additional duties, where appropriate, which are assigned within the scope of employment and certification.
Qualifications:
- Connecticut Certification Endorsement 092 Intermediate Administrator is required.
- Demonstrated experience in grade K-12 curriculum and instruction.
- Minimum of three years teaching experience.
- Demonstrated leadership qualities and personal characteristics for working effectively with students, teachers, administrators and parents.
- Ability to implement data-driven decision-making in school improvement initiatives.
- Prior instructional leadership experience is preferred.
- Prior experience at the posted school level is preferred.
