JOB DESCRIPTION Behavior Interventionist DIVISION: Academics and Student Support GRADE: 5 DEPARTMENT: School Based WORK DAY: 190 REPORTS TO: Building Principal FLSA STATUS: Non Exempt JOB CLASS: 4353 GROUP: Classified POSITION SUMMARY
The role of a Behavior Interventionist involves supporting the school's behavior intervention program. This includes using proven strategies to help individual students and small groups, and keeping track of their progress. The goal is to create a well-organized and effective learning environment where elementary students can fully benefit from their lessons and available resources. A Behavior Interventionist may work in classrooms, with small groups, one-on-one with students, or in other settings, depending on the needs of the school, students, and teachers. A Behavior Interventionist may work in classrooms, with small groups, one-on-one with students, or in other settings, depending on the needs of the school, students, and teachers. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS EDUCATION:
- Associate's degree with at least 2 years of study (60 credit hours) at an institute of higher learning preferred
- At least 21 years' of age (Individuals who have a minimum credit hours and hold an Associate Degree or higher teaching credential do not have to meet the minimum 21 years of age requirement)
- Maintains all licenses and certifications
- Criminal Justice Fingerprint
- Background Clearance
- Clearance Certificate
- Three (3) years' experience working with elementary age children preferred

- Assists students individually or in small groups to reinforce concepts, help achieve academic goals, and develop appropriate social skills.
- Implements behavioral supports and interventions to reinforce learning concepts and support Positive Behavior Intervention System (PBIS) initiatives.
- Provides assistance with de-escalating behaviors and reintegrating students back into the classroom environment.
- Supports students in developing plans for success in the classroom.
- Collects and documents data for behavior intervention service planning and review, ensuring accurate record-keeping.
- Assists school staff in implementing behavior management plans and intervention strategies.
- Collaborates with school support staff to effectively implement behavior intervention plans as a team.
- Maintains ethical behavior and confidentiality at the same high standard expected of a fully licensed teacher.
- Maintains classroom equipment, supplies, and learning aids to ensure a safe and positive learning environment.
- Monitors and reports on student behavior and incidents in various settings to appropriate personnel, responding to emergencies to resolve safety concerns.
- Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.
