About the Position

Job Title: SCU/ED Float Registered Nurse Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: ICU Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 hours (19:00 - 07:30) Experience: Minimum 1 year License: Valid State License required Certifications: ACLS and BCLS required CCRN preferred Must-Have: Required Cardiac Monitoring and Emergency response skills Required skills and experience in interpretation and management of dysrhythmias Experience with multi-system organ failure Ability to obtain a 12-lead EKG Experience with thermoregulation, hypothermia/hyperthermia IV insulin protocol experience required GI surgery experience required Experience with chronic/acute renal failure required IV therapy skills including accessing ports, arterial line management, blood product administration, central line management, and PICC line management Ability to start IVs Medication skills including continuous IV paralytics/neuromuscular blockade, continuous IV sedation, emergency medications, procedural sedation administration, titrating cardiac drips, and titrating vasoactive drips Neurological case skills including CVA/acute stroke management, external ventricular drains, hypothermia protocol, ICP monitoring, lumbar drains, post-neurosurgery management, spinal cord injury, and traumatic brain injury Respiratory/thoracic case skills including management of BiPAP, CPAP, chest tube insertion/removal, care of ventilated patients, high flow nasal cannula, interpretation of ABGs, and suctioning Professional skills in infection precautions, isolation precautions, and phlebotomy Description: Position is for a Floating Registered Nurse in the SCU/ED. The shift will be three nights a week. The average daily census is 5, with 8 rooms and 10 beds available. First-time travelers are accepted. The schedule will require working every other weekend. Floating to other units, specifically the Emergency Department, is expected. The candidate will be required to manage cardiac monitoring and emergency situations. This position requires strong assessment and critical thinking skills. The clinician will be part of an interdisciplinary team. The role involves caring for adult and geriatric patients with various complex medical conditions. Experience with specific acute care processes and procedures is required. The candidate must demonstrate proficiency in the required skill sets listed. Up to three shifts may be canceled with no penalty. Candidates must provide valid references and have the required certifications by submission.
