Certified Hand Therapist CHT - Outpatient

General Summary of Position MedStar Health is looking for a Certified Hand Therapist (CHT) to join our team at MHPT @ Annapolis. We are seeking a licensed CHT with professional competency as a general practitioner in occupational or physical therapy, experienced in varied evaluation and treatment approaches, with initiative in following procedures and policies, and effective communication skills. As an Occupational / Physical Therapist with the Certified Hand Therapist credential, you will provide therapeutic interventions to prevent dysfunction, restore function, and reverse the progression of pathology of the upper limb (hand, wrist, elbow, and shoulder). You will use specialized skills in assessment, planning and treatment to improve upper limb function, alleviate pain, and prevent disabilities. You may participate in program planning and protocol development and assist the team in meeting established goals. Primary Duties Provide evaluation services including review of pertinent history, performance of specific assessments, determine recommendations, and document results. Explain evaluation findings and treatment plans to patient and family and incorporate them in goal setting. Demonstrate proficiency in implementation of treatment protocols based on evaluation findings and patient presentation. Consult with other healthcare professionals as indicated. Recognize and document changes in patient condition requiring modification of the plan of care or need for medical/rehabilitation consultation. Complete appropriate discharge planning and follow-up care. Accurately and timely document and charge for patient care activities, including focused initial evaluation/plan of care that establishes baseline and goals, legible daily encounter notes, interim progress summaries, and discharge evaluation. Demonstrate effective time management and meet productivity expectations. Manage an accurate schedule. Provide frictionless patient access to care through flexibility, adaptability, and empathy. Takes initiative in pursuing and directing continuing education for professional growth and competency. Serve as a clinical instructor to assigned students. Qualifications Bachelor's, Master's, or Doctoral degree in Occupational Therapy / Physical Therapy, or High School Diploma or GED from an accredited school of Occupational / Physical Therapy. 3 years of experience as an occupational or physical therapist with 4,000 hours or more in direct practice in hand therapy. Maryland, District of Columbia, or Virginia licensure required as deemed necessary for your specific locations. Successful completion of the CHT exam administered by the HTCC. Basic Life Support (BLS). Continued professional development and competency by recertifying every five years. This position has a hiring range of $72,758 - $130,041. #J-18808-Ljbffr MedStar Health
