Assistant Store ManagerLocation: Clyde, Eastland, Brownwood, Brady, Sweetwater, N1st, Pine, Sherwood, Big SpringThe Assistant Store Manager follows the Store Manager's direction in overseeing the daily business operations of the store. Ensures maximum sales and profitability through merchandise, donated and new goods, expense control, team management, operating costs, loss prevention and safety. Responsible for motivating, training and supervising a diverse group of employees in day-to-day tasks. Ensures excellent customer experience throughout all areas including the donation door, sales floor and cash wrap.Education / Experience:6 months retail sales experience requiredSupervisory experience preferredHigh School/GED preferredMust be able to read, write and operate computerQualifications / Specific Skills / Knowledge:Ability to supervise and motivate employees.Ability to handle the needs of disabled employees in a sensitive and effective manner.Ability to quickly make decisions and resolve conflictAbility to accurately operate and balance cash registerAbility to communicate appropriately with coworkers and customersAbility to operate all equipment necessary to perform their duties (POS, Scanner, warehouse equipment, etc.)Must be able to safely handle, lift and carry itemsAbility to stand and walk for long periodsAbility to stoop and bendWilling to perform tasks necessary to ensure continuous store operationsAbility to work varied hours and days as business dictatesValid Texas driver's license requiredResponsibilities & Duties:Responsible for consistently monitoring process flow and making improvements as necessary. (donated/new goods to floor to securing a sale)Responsible for making certain each customer receives outstanding service by providing a customer friendly environmentProvide training and follow up to ensure employees greet/acknowledge each customer, display solid product knowledge & express genuine concern for customers & their needsProvide direction and leads team in offering excellent customer experience at the donation door. Ensure donations are accepted graciously, every customer is thanked and a receipt is offered to each donorProficient with POS system and scanning technologyAccurately & efficiently complete all sales transactions including discounts, tax exemptions, voids, cash donations, etcUnderstand Goodwill Mission programs and follows the "round up" scripting to support the Mission. Ensures employees are trained and held accountable for "round up" processMaintain security protocol regarding passwords, money handling and safeguarding the facilityResponsible for intake and inventory management of new goods. Create and maintain a system to organize and secure all new goods. Replenish stock appropriatelyResponsible for promptly addressing customer and employee concerns, and communicating situations/resolutions with ManagerMake appropriate decisions in a variety of situations including but not limited to altercations, medical emergencies, theft, power failure, inclement weather, etcResponsible for ensuring the store is operating efficiently and employees stay on task to meet or exceed established goals (sales, production, roundup, etc.)Maintain knowledge of products, placement, pricing and train staff of suchWork with Manager to create and maintain a schedule that provides store coverage. Monitor store coverage and take measures to ensure appropriate staffingEdit and approve time in conjunction with ManagerAt the direction of the Manager, facilitate floor moves, merchandising, display maintenance & store housekeepingFollow budgetary guidelines & improve processes to meet or exceed those guidelinesMust be able to navigate and troubleshoot databases such as POS, ADP/scheduling, outlook, virtual meetings, etcReceive and monitor stock & process/replenish merchandise in storeWork with Manager to hire and train new staff, as well as provide ongoing trainingTrain and educate staff regarding behavior, productivity and attendance. Inform Manager of issues or potential issuesEnforce and adhere to all company policies, procedures & practices including but not limited to operating procedures, general rules, signage, pricing & loss preventionProcess all required documentation and paperwork accurately and timelyAssist Manager to complete competencies and evaluations thoroughly and timelyCreate and foster a respectful and inclusive team environment. Communicate appropriately & positively with co-workers & othersSet a positive example and represent Goodwill appropriatelyPerform other duties & responsibilities as assigned by supervisor
