Our client is seeking a Legal Assistant on a full-time, direct hire basis at their offices in Fairfield, NJ 07004. The role will pay an annual salary of $55K to $65K plus a performance-based bonus and is eligible for overtime. Overview The Legal Assistant provides support to attorneys and paralegals by handling administrative tasks and maintaining accurate records. The position requires excellent communication, organizational, and multitasking skills to assist in the smooth functioning of the law firm. Key Responsibilities Manage legal correspondence, including drafting routine letters, memos, and reports. CPU OS-specific file management and maintain client files, ensuring correct filing of all documents. Schedule meetings, depositions and court hearings and maintain the attorney's calendar. Perform basic legal research and fact‑checking as needed. Monitor case deadlines and notify attorneys of upcoming obligations. Prepare assessments forlicts assigned states, compile necessary information in the database for attorney review. Assist with distributing mail to designated teams and entering documentation into the database. Serve as liaison with attorneys, court personnel, and internal staff. Requirements Associate’s degree or equivalent preferred. 2+ years of experience as a legal assistant or in a law‑firm setting. Strong knowledge of legal terminology and document formatting. Excellent organizational and time‑management skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
