Under limited supervision, the Simulation and Skills Lab Coordinator will collaborate with full-time and adjunct nursing faculty as well as faculty across the Health Sciences division and external collaborative community partners. This position is responsible for coordinating the necessary resources required to conduct high quality simulation scenarios along with video-recorded scenario de-briefing. In addition, will coordinate resources required to meet student objectives in the skills labs as well as provide didactic and skills lab instruction for students.

Collaborate with faculty to select, design, develop, and update simulation scenarios that reflect curriculum goals, current nursing practices, and meet the objectives of the program.

Create and maintain a library of standardized scenarios with supporting documentation and assessment tools.

Manage the day-to-day operations of skills and simulation labs, including scheduling and organization.

Work with PCC Simulation IT specialist to ensure the maintenance and repair of simulation equipment, simulators, and other lab technology.

Monitor and order necessary equipment and supplies, perform inventory, and maintain product and service warranties.

Stage simulation scenarios, including the use of props and moulage.

Collaborate with PCC Health Sciences program faculty and students as well as Community Health care educators to develop and coordinate Interprofessional simulation experiences.

Provide instruction and evaluation to students related to Caring interventions in didactic and skills lab settings.

Conduct simulation training including debriefing of students as required.

Train faculty, staff, and students on the use of simulation equipment, software, and lab policies.

Provide technical support for lab equipment and software.

Assist with remediation and practice sessions for students.

Ensure the lab maintains all safety and OSHA standards, including proper disposal of hazardous materials.

Stay current with changes in safety and simulation standards and inform faculty.

Maintain confidentiality of student performance and ensure security of simulation videos and debriefing discussions.

Maintain accurate records of lab use and student progress.

Collaborate with program leadership on lab policies, budget recommendations, and equipment acquisition plans.

With the assistance of the Program Director, ensure simulation practices align with guidelines set forth by NCBON and the International Nursing Association for Clinical Simulation and Learning (INACSL) Standards of Best Practices.

Participate in program reviews and college committees as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• An active, unencumbered, license or multistate licensure privilege to practice as a registered nurse in North Carolina.
• Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) from a regionally accredited institution; AND
• Master's Degree in Nursing (MSN) with a Concentration in Nursing Education from an ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing program.

(Applicants actively enrolled and within 1 academic semester of completing an MSN in Nursing Education will be considered.)

• At least five (5) years of current, full-time, employment in direct patient care.

**Candidates holding a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN), without a nursing education concentration that graduated from a regionally accredited (ACEN or CCNE) institution are welcome to apply; however, completion of a Post-Master Teaching and Learning Certificate from an approved North Carolina Board of Nursing (NCBON) program will be expected within 1 year from date of hire.

Preferred Qualifications

• Certified Nurse Educator (CNE)
• Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator (CHSE)
• Previous teaching experience

Work Environment: Combination of instructional, laboratory, and office environments; Primary work occurs in nursing skills labs and simulation laboratories, which replicate clinical healthcare environments and include hospital beds, patient simulators, medical equipment, and audiovisual recording systems. Involves regular interaction with students, nursing faculty, healthcare professionals, and external clinical partners. Requires the use of advanced simulation technology, including high-fidelity patient simulators, video recording systems, simulation management software, and other instructional technologies. Work may include preparing simulation scenarios, staging equipment, and arranging lab spaces to simulate realistic healthcare situations. Occasional participation in community outreach events, recruitment activities, simulation training, or professional development programs may require travel within the region. Requires adherence to healthcare safety standards, infection control protocols, and institutional safety procedures. Some responsibilities may occur during evening or extended hours to support student lab sessions or faculty training activities.

Physical Demands:

• Ability to stand and move throughout laboratory spaces for extended periods during instruction and simulation activities.
• Ability to demonstrate clinical skills and assist students with hands-on learning activities.
• Frequent bending, reaching, and positioning of simulation equipment, mannequins, and instructional materials.
• Ability to lift, move, or reposition simulation mannequins, medical equipment, or supply boxes weighing up to 3040 pounds.
• Ability to operate computers, simulation equipment, audiovisual recording systems, and other instructional technology.
• Ability to communicate clearly with students, faculty, and healthcare partners in instructional and collaborative settings.

Normal Working Hours: Full-Time, 12-month, faculty position. Teaching responsibilities may include daytime, evening, hybrid, and online classes as assigned to meet departmental needs. Office hours are required for student advising, course prep, committee participation, etc. Occasional evenings or weekends may be required for outreach activities, program support or professional development.
