Job Title: Pharmacy Technician – Outpatient (Managed Care / Prior Authorization)
Location: Portland, OR
Shift Details: Day Shift | 5x8 Hours | 08:00 AM – 05:00 PM
Contract Duration: 26 Weeks
On-call: 2–3 weekends per year
Orientation: 40 Hours (Non-Billable – Reduced Orientation Job)
- Oregon Pharmacy Technician License required
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills required (mandatory)
- Minimum 2 years of pharmacy technician experience OR Bachelor’s degree
- Experience in managed care / prior authorization preferred
- Knowledge of ICD-10, CPT coding, and medical terminology
- Strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to handle high-volume workload independently
- Knowledge of pharmacy laws, insurance regulations, and HIPAA
- Process pharmacy prior authorizations based on clinical guidelines
- Review and validate pharmacy claims, eligibility, and benefit data
- Handle inbound calls and route requests to clinical teams as needed
- Perform data entry for authorizations, referrals, and medication records
- Apply ICD-10 and CPT coding for case tracking and documentation
- Communicate with providers, pharmacies, and members regarding cases
- Audit claims and documentation for accuracy and compliance
- Support pharmacy benefit operations and regulatory requirements
- Prepare reports and assist with quality improvement activities
- Maintain confidentiality and ensure compliance with HIPAA standards
