Field Calibration Technician

We fulfill this promise through our employees, who live Our Values every day, the Transcat Way.Are you ready to join a company where the work you do makes a difference, and where you can grow in your career?Transcat has to offer:Work that matters.A values-based culture where people care about each other and the work they do together.FlexibilityTraining and development to accelerate learning and career advancement.Competitive compensation and benefits, including paid time off, health insurance, tuition reimbursement, retirement, stock purchase plan, and MORE!Hourly rates range $23 - $34/hr.ResponsibilitiesMajor areas of responsibility include:Calibrating measurement and test equipment (M&TE) to manufacturers specificationsDetermining out of tolerance conditions for customer M&TE and calibration standardsProviding corrective action (i.e., adjustments, minor repairs) for out of tolerance conditionsUpdating and maintaining proper documentation of servicesProviding customers with information regarding other services and new equipment provided by TranscatMaintaining calibration standardsProviding feedback and updates regarding calibration practices and proceduresProficiency in submitting and updating required paperwork for travel and administrative purposesOther duties as assignedTravel requirements include:This is a travel position Monday through FridayWeekly overnight travel to customer's facility to provide services - home 95% of weekendsCompany pays for all lodging and expenses when away from homeQualificationsRequired knowledge, skills, and abilities include:Calibration experience and/or equivalent training with commercial and/or biomedical measurement and test equipment (M&TE)Self-motivator requiring little or no supervisionCustomer service orientedAbility to interact with customers & coworkers in a professional mannerProficiency with MS Office and the internet; familiarity with basic database functionality3+ years driving experience with a valid driver's license and acceptable driver historyEducation and experience include:Associate degree from college or technical school; or 2-5 years of related field experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.Desired experience/skills include:Military PMEL trainingStrong attention to detail - able to follow written instructions.Ability to plan and prioritize diversified workload and work independently with minimal supervisionExcellent verbal and written communication skills.Physical demands include:Required to stand for long periods of time (up to 8 hours per day)Ability to lift 50 pounds and maneuver a 400-pound cart from unloading area to customer designated service areaOccasionally will be required to lift upwards of 75lbsWork environment includes:While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to risk of electrical shock. The employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; outside weather conditions and vibration.
