Monitor Technician | Behav. Health Unit Schedule: Evenings | 3 pm - 11 pm | rotate weekends Job Type: In-person Job Location: Danville, VA Hourly range: $12.77 - $14.63 per hour Position Summary Sovah Danville is seeking a Monitor Technician to provide services that ensure a safe environment for psychiatric patients in a locked inpatient unit setting. Responsibilities Performs continual surveillance of behavioral health unit monitors and operates the patient‑monitoring system. Monitors dining/day rooms and hallways in the Behavioral Health unit when occupied by patients to assure patient safety. Monitors patients for suspicious behavior indicating the possibility of self‑harm. Reports incidents, utilizes nursing staff for concerns, discusses recent issues, and any pertinent patient details with the covering/on‑coming behavioral health monitor technician. Recognizes patient behaviors in the dining/dayroom and hallway environment that may result in an unsafe situation. Identifies significant arrhythmias and/or signs of patient distress and intervenes appropriately; identifies and corrects for artifacts. Reports abnormal assessment and telemetry findings or changes in patient’s physical, mental, and emotional conditions to the nursing staff. Tests equipment for proper working order and reports equipment problems to the supervisor. Qualifications Minimum Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. Required Skills: Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision; must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action. Required Certifications/Licenses: AHA BLS required.
