Job Title: Turbocharger Technician Job Description

The Turbocharger Technician is responsible for all aspects of the overhaul of turbochargers and their components. This role primarily involves aiding the workshop team in achieving set production targets by adhering to established systems and processes. The technician will correctly use machinery and equipment on the shop floor and read and interpret technical diagrams and instructions for the disassembly, cleaning, and assembly of turbochargers.

• Start in the sandblasting area, cleaning, sandblasting, drilling, and tapping products.
• Assemble and disassemble turbochargers and components according to working instructions and quality standards.
• Conduct regular quality inspections as part of a defined production process.
• Use metric and imperial measuring tools such as verniers, calipers, micrometers, and gauges proficiently.
• Clean turbochargers and their components using workshop machinery.
• Ensure workshop machines are clean and maintained per manufacturers instructions and local policies.
• Maintain cleanliness and upkeep of the workshop.
• Review and evaluate shop and service working practices and implement corrective actions to improve service performance.
• Conduct shop floor operations in compliance with health and safety guidelines, reporting any non-compliance.

• 1 to 2 years of experience working as a mechanic or mechanical assembler.
• Ability to use hand and power tools.
• Mechanical aptitude.
• Proficiency with blueprints, schematic reading, and tape measure.

• Experience with overhead cranes, sandblasting, grinding, drilling, and mechanical assembly.
• High school graduate, Trade School (preferred) or equivalent.

Skill levels have been developed for each of the main departments within the workshop, providing a clear path for skill progression and annual merit increases. Employees can progress through various skill levels, each defined by specific competencies. Successful demonstration of skills leads to increased pay and recognition.

The work environment is a small, well-organized facility with approximately 20 employees. Due to the machinery, the workspace can be noisy.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Bolingbrook, IL.

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $25.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
