About the Consultant Position Consultants (Cs) play a key role on Bridgespan consulting teams, collaborating to address complex strategic challenges through rigorous research, analysis, and the development of recommendations that help our clients increase their impact. As core members of case teams, Consultants take ownership of significant portions of client work, independently managing workstreams, driving project plans, and contributing to the overall recommendation. Consultants are expected to apply strong analytical, critical thinking, and interpersonal skills while building effective relationships with clients and colleagues. Consultants often collaborate directly with members of the client team and it is expected that they will quickly assume team and client leadership responsibilities. Once fully onboarded, Cs will follow our 50-50 staffing model, working on two projects at a time with different teams. Cs enter as generalists, projects range considerably in topic and client profile, making it ideal for candidates who would like to build on their academic and personal capabilities, and who are enthusiastic about exploring the full range of work we do. Topics range considerably from education to public health to criminal justice, and much more. Our client portfolio includes philanthropists or philanthropic institutions; nonprofits or movements; and impact investors. Consultants work 50-55 hours per week on average, with variations week to week in response to client needs. Travel required could be 1-2 times a month depending on projects. What you’ll do: Plan and own workstreams of project work, identifying issues, creating hypothesis and developing analysis and recommendations that help clients move into action. Conduct qualitative analysis through interviews and secondary research and quantitative analysis such as financial modeling and market research translating data into action-oriented insights. Prepare, deliver and present clear and compelling client materials including Power Point presentations, Excel models, reports and other written deliverables. Support client workshops, facilitating problem-solving discussions with mid-level and senior-level clients. Adapt to evolving project needs by incorporating feedback, managing competing priorities, and delivering high-quality work in a fast-paced environment. Contribute to Bridgespan's knowledge-sharing efforts and support internal initiatives that strengthen team culture such us mentoring junior team members. How Bridgespan will support you: While most of the learning occurs on the job, Cs attend formalized training sessions throughout their career at Bridgespan, beginning with an extensive orientation program. As the Consultants progress, they gain access to additional training focused on developing leadership consulting skills. While the learning curve is steep, Bridgespan invests in helping each Consultant build their consultant toolkit for a successful career: cracking tough problems, communicating solutions with clients and teams, and collaborating across levels including Associate Consultant and Managers. About you: This role is ideal for final year graduate students in MBA, MPP, MPA programs with at least three years of consecutive working experience meeting the following qualifications: MBA, MPP, MPA degree with a strong academic record Experience in management consulting, strategy roles highly preferred. Strong analytical skills, creativity in problem-solving, and the ability to explore innovative solutions. Excellent written, verbal and presentation communication skills. A self-motivated, independent thinker who is organized and deadline-driven. A solid team player, willing to proactively take on leadership roles within project teams and the firm. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build trusted relationships with clients and stakeholders. Commitment to the social sector and ability to incorporate equity considerations into the different aspects of the work. Ability to thrive in a hybrid work environment and travel as needed to support client and project requirements. Consultants are required to relocate to their home office city given the apprenticeship model in our consulting work. Consultants are required to work from their home Bridgespan office at least 2 days per week.
