Job Summary:

The Department of Social Services strives to make a significant impact in the lives of the citizens of South Dakota. The Division of Child Support is looking for a dependable and highly organized individual who is a pro-active self-starter, customer service driven, sensitive to deadlines and attentive to detail. In this position, the desired candidate will be able to develop professional skills while working with a highly skilled team in a supportive team environment.

Duties include:

• Process SD Warrants.
• Process Cash Payments.
• Verify Direct Deposit and Way2Go updates.
• Review payment logs to ensure the payments are correctly identified and split before the logs are verified.
• Allocate payments in a timely manner to ensure federal distribution time frames are met.
• Review the cancelled and stale dated warrant list each month.
• Research misapplied payments for the purposes to establish accurate payment distribution.
• Complete ledger adjustments requested by Child Support Specialist's

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

Knowledge of:

• basic accounting principles and practices;
• Federal Distribution Guidelines;
• mainframe and access data bases;
• operating a calculator and applicable accounting software.

Ability to:

• complete tasks accurately and within federal guidelines
• communicate both orally and in writing
• use a calculator and computer and learn applicable accounting software
• prioritize and complete work by established deadlines
• provide excellent customer service to both internal and external customers
• maintain confidentiality
• assist with the Automatic Withdrawal program.
• update Doc IDs
• assist with the EPC reliacard program
