Role Description The CleanPack Chemist is a full-time, on-site role based in Mason, MI, responsible for handling, identifying, and classifying hazardous and non-hazardous materials for proper packaging and disposal. Day-to-day tasks include performing field sampling and testing, segregating and consolidating chemical waste, ensuring accurate labeling and documentation, and maintaining compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. The role involves working in customer locations and company facilities to inspect, sort, and prepare materials for transport, as well as supporting emergency response or special projects as needed. The CleanPack Chemist collaborates with operations, transportation, and safety teams to maintain a safe work environment, optimize waste management processes, and provide high-quality service to customers. Qualifications Candidates should possess strong Laboratory Skills for handling, sampling, and testing chemical materials in field and facility environments. Candidates should possess Quality Control capabilities to verify accurate labeling, documentation, packaging, and regulatory compliance. Candidates should possess Analytical Skills to identify chemical properties, assess risks, and determine appropriate disposal or treatment methods. Candidates should possess Research and Development (R&D) and Research abilities to support process improvements, solution development, and technical problem-solving. Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related discipline preferred; equivalent experience considered. Knowledge of hazardous waste regulations (e.g., RCRA, DOT, OSHA) and safe handling procedures for chemicals and industrial materials. Ability to work safely in industrial and field settings, including lifting, standing, and working in varying weather and environmental conditions.
