Assistant Debate Coach

Position Instructional Support Assistant (SL-1) – Assistant Debate Coach (ADC) Salary: $38,088 (10‑month, college‑year) Responsibilities Coaching the university policy debate team. Running squad meetings and coordinating research assignments. Working with individual students and partners. Scouting, judging, and driving to tournaments. Traveling 5‑7 weekends per semester with up to twenty students. Preparing all necessary materials for competitive success. Co‑ordinating travel schedules and partnerships for the squad. Assisting with additional coaching assignments to varsity members. Optional teaching of one course per semester at the discretion of the Director of Speech and Debate to support recruitment and reduce coaching load. Requirements Bachelor’s Degree (or higher). Experience coaching and/or competing in Cross‑Examination Debate Association and National Debate Tournament‑sanctioned debate. Demonstrated national and regional success. Valid and clean driver’s license for vehicle operation during practice and competition. Preferred Master’s Degree (or higher). Experience working across all levels of debate. Experience coordinating travel for a large squad. Demonstrated success with larger debate teams. Additional Information Position considered a Campus Security Authority for Clery Act compliance.
