ICU Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced ICU Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team in a fast-paced Intensive Care Unit. The ideal candidate will have a strong clinical background and the ability to provide high-quality care to critically ill patients.

Shift Details

Shift Length: 12 hours
Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
Shift Timing: 0645-1915 and 1845-0715
Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
Holiday Requirement: One major and one minor holiday for both winter and summer holidays

Unit Information

Unit Type: ICU (Intensive Care Unit)
Number of Beds: 24
Nurse to Patient Ratios: 1:1 or 1:2
Electronic Medical Record System: Cerner Power Chart
Tele/Monitor Techs: None; RNs must read and interpret strips
Charge Nurse: Yes, without patient assignment
Available Resources: Respiratory Therapy and Pharmacy available 24/7

Responsibilities

The ICU Registered Nurse will be responsible for:

Providing direct patient care for critically ill patients, including those on ventilators and various IV drips.
Performing comprehensive assessments and interventions, including neuro assessments and ICP monitoring.
Floating to telemetry units as needed with a patient ratio of 1:4.
Collaborating with a multidisciplinary team including an in-house intensivist available 24/7.

Qualifications

Applicants must have the following qualifications:

Minimum 2 years of ICU experience is required.
Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS.
Previous travel experience is preferred.
Strong background in general medical-surgical ICU care.

Additional Notes

Applicants should be familiar with common ICU diagnoses, including trauma, sepsis, respiratory failure, and postoperative care. Experience with monitoring and managing critical care patients is essential.
