Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN) Profession: Nursing Specialty: Medical Center Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Shift Hours per Shift: 8 hours Experience: Minimum 2 years License: Registered Nurse (RN) Certifications: ACLS, BLS Must-Have: Must be able to circulate, make critical independent decisions, collaborate with others, multi-task, and recognize changes requiring unanticipated interventions. Description: The facility has 123 beds and is designated as a Trauma Level III center. It has a Primary Stroke Center. There are 3 Operating Rooms available. Patient types include inpatient, outpatient, and emergency room cases. Surgical specialties include general, gynecological, ear, nose, and throat, urology, orthopedic, podiatry, and vascular surgery. Pediatric cases are seen with ENT, typically done once a week, making up 5-10% of the case load. Experience with pediatric cases is preferred. Required certifications include BLS for both RN and CST. Skills required for the RN position include the ability to circulate in surgeries and make critical, independent decisions. Collaboration with team members is essential. The ability to multi-task and recognize situational changes is necessary. For the CST position, knowledge of aseptic surgical techniques and various types of surgical equipment is required. Support on the unit includes a Charge Nurse who does not take an assignment, a Surgeon present during the day and on-call after cases, and Anesthesia available during cases and on-call afterward. There are surgery schedulers during the day and an Operating Room aide who works as a secretary. The charting system is EPIC, which is required. Floating to other sites may occur, and a weekly schedule will indicate where floating will take place. Scheduling time off must go through the manager. Holidays include one summer and one winter. On-call requirements for the RN and CST include every sixth weekend, from Friday afternoon to Monday morning, and one night a week, with a response time of 30 minutes. Scrub color for procedures is provided.
