Field Service Technician

CNC Field Service Technician New Haven, CT | $60,000 - $75,000 Per Year This company provides field service and technical support for CNC lathe and bar-feeding equipment used in industrial manufacturing. The team works directly with end users, OEM representatives, and dealers to install, service, and troubleshoot complex electromechanical equipment at customer locations across the region. Schedule Field-based role with overnight travel required approximately 50% to 75% of the time to customer sites. Compensation $60,000 to $75,000 per year, based on experience. What You'll Do In this role, you will install, service, troubleshoot, and repair complex electromechanical manufacturing equipment at customer locations. You will read and interpret electrical schematics involving high-voltage systems from 220V to 440V, low-voltage systems from 12V to 24V, and combined electrical systems, using a multimeter to troubleshoot voltage, current, resistance, and related electrical issues. You will troubleshoot PLC-controlled systems, including power supplies, inputs, outputs, switches, sensors, and human-machine interfaces, and diagnose issues involving servo drives, motors, and motion-control systems. You will also read and interpret pneumatic schematics, and disassemble, repair, and reassemble complex electromechanical assemblies using common hand and power tools. Over time, you will learn and apply the fundamentals of CNC lathe controls and programming on platforms such as Fanuc, Mitsubishi, and Siemens, supporting magazine bar-feeding systems and CNC lathe part-processing applications. This role involves regular communication with end users, OEM representatives, dealers, and other key customer contacts, including providing equipment installation guidance and operator training. You will document service calls, repairs, customer communications, and technical information in digital customer files, and represent the company professionally before, during, and after each customer visit. Required Qualifications High school diploma or GED Two to five years of field service, industrial maintenance, equipment installation, or related technical experience Advanced ability to read and interpret electrical schematics Strong working knowledge of high and low voltage electrical systems Advanced proficiency using a multimeter Knowledge of PLCs, HMIs, servo drives, and motion control systems Ability to read pneumatic schematics Strong mechanical aptitude and advanced troubleshooting skills Proficiency with common hand and power tools Basic computer skills and the ability to maintain accurate digital service records Strong verbal and written communication skills Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills Ability and willingness to travel overnight 50% to 75% of the time Preferred Qualifications Experience servicing CNC machinery, bar-feeding equipment, or automated manufacturing systems Familiarity with Fanuc, Mitsubishi, Siemens, or comparable CNC controls Experience installing equipment and training customers in a manufacturing environment Compensation and Benefits $60,000 to $75,000 per year Medical, dental, and vision insurance 401(k) retirement plan Paid time off To apply, please submit your resume for consideration. iLocatum
