R&D Engineer Our client is a leading manufacturer of specialized cable and cable assembly solutions supporting critical applications across medical device and advanced technology markets. The organization collaborates closely with customers to develop high-performance products while maintaining a strong focus on engineering excellence, quality, and innovation. The role involves: Collaborate with customers and internal teams to identify and mitigate risks in cable and cable assembly designs. Support project reviews, quoting activities, and technical feasibility assessments. Resolve technical challenges related to new product development and manufacturing processes. Develop DFM reports, Design FMEAs, cost estimates, and tooling recommendations. Manage cross-functional projects to achieve timeline, quality, and profitability objectives. Support customer presentations and provide technical guidance on products and applications. Coordinate technical input during contract review activities. Work with suppliers, consultants, and external partners to support product and process development. Provide technical training and support to commercial teams. Support ERP and quality system documentation including BOMs, routings, and work instructions. Assist with capital equipment projects supporting development and prototyping activities. Drive process improvements that enhance quality, efficiency, and customer satisfaction. A successful R&D Engineer should have: Engineering degree or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience in catheter assembly, cable assembly, or wire and cable manufacturing. Background supporting medical devices, medical components, or regulated manufacturing environments. Strong understanding of cable assemblies, connectors, materials, extrusion, molding, tooling, and manufacturing processes. Experience automating manufacturing or assembly processes. Knowledge of Quality Management Systems (QMS) and manufacturing documentation. Familiarity with BOMs, routings, work instructions, PFMEA, process maps, and costing systems. Working knowledge of CAD software. Strong project management skills utilizing tools such as MS Project and Gantt charts. Proven ability to work collaboratively with customers, suppliers, engineering, quality, and manufacturing teams. Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills. Strong attention to detail and customer-focused mindset.
