Nuclear Medicine Technologist Per Diem Newton

Responsible for preparing and rendering radiopharmaceuticals in diagnostic and therapeutic studies, utilizing a variety of equipment while following prescribed procedures. Responsibilities Mix stock solutions of radiopharmaceutical materials, calculate doses, and administer doses under direction of physician. Calibrate equipment. Perform diagnostic studies on patients as prescribed by physician, using scanners or scintillation cameras to detect radiation emitted and to produce image of organ on photographic film. Measure radioactivity using Geiger counters, scalers, and scintillation detectors. Administer therapeutic doses of radiopharmaceuticals under direction of physician. Follow radiation safety techniques in use and disposal of radioactive materials. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications High School Diploma or equivalent experience. Graduate of AMA approved school of Nuclear Medicine. Employment history in an office-based setting is preferred. Lead – specific certification related to position or Associates Degree/Technical Degree in related field. All licenses and certifications needed to fulfill the duties required of a Technician at the state(s) and/or national level. Current license with NJDEP in nuclear medicine. Registration or certification by ARRT, NMTCB, or CAMRT.
